What is MARS?

The first crypto project to fund real wildlife conservation with full blockchain transparency.

Mars is a baby pygmy hippo born at Tanganyika Wildlife Park on June 26, 2025. The crypto community raised $3,000 to name him, the first time a crypto project ever named a real animal. Over $31,829.17 has been donated. Every dollar traceable on-chain.

When the original project lead bailed, the community didn't quit. V1 holders sent in their tokens, the team sold them off, and airdropped V2 to every single holder. No one got left behind. That's how $MARS V2 was born. These are day-one holders who have been here since July 2025, and many of them now sit on the Board of Hippos.

This isn't a charity rebrand. This is a community doing what they do best. Building something real and making a difference.

V1 to V2 Migration

$MARS V2 was created after the original project lead abandoned the token. V1 holders submitted their tokens, the team sold them off, and airdropped V2 to every holder. All V1 holders are day-one community members from July 2025, and many now serve on the Board of Hippos. These aren't anonymous wallets. They're the same people who built and funded the project from the start.

Why the Bubble Map Looks the Way It Does

If you check the bubble map, you'll see clusters of connected wallets. This is completely normal for any token with airdrop distribution and on-chain rewards. When a token uses RevShare to pay USDC rewards, the distribution wallet sends to every qualifying holder on a set cycle, creating a hub-and-spoke pattern on any bubble map. Every rewards token looks like this. It's not a red flag, it's literally how the fee mechanism works.

On top of that, every V1 holder received a V2 airdrop based on what they held. Another standard distribution event that creates connected clusters. These wallets belong to known community members, many of whom sit on the Board of Hippos. They've been here since July 2025, funded over $31,800 in donations, and aren't going anywhere. They're active in the community every day, working on the project and building their bags right alongside you. No mystery whales. No dev wallets hiding in the background. Just the original crew putting in the work.

If you'd asked me a year ago if one of our biggest contributors would be a crypto community, I would've laughed. But The Mars Project changed my mind. They're showing that crypto can actually do some good.

The Board of Hippos

Community Governance

$MARS is built on the foundation of its V1 community, the original holders who believed in the mission from the start. Today, the project is guided by the Board of Hippos, a council of 10 top holders who advise on all major decisions. They take input from roughly 60 additional holders, so every voice in the community counts. No VCs, no backroom deals. Just real people steering the mission together.

Built by the community. Run by the community.
